Short version: PencilPage counts page views with Google Analytics 4 and never receives the names, words or numbers you type into a generator. The sections below say what stays in your browser, what that counter records, what the host of the site still sees and what your browser loads.
Who the site is for
PencilPage is intended for adults: teachers, parents, tutors and adult learners. It has no accounts, no sign-up forms and no online activities for children, and it does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The page counter described below measures visits to the pages; it never receives a child’s name or anything else typed into a worksheet.
What you type
Names, word lists, clues, numbers and titles you type into a generator are used in your browser to draw the sheet. They are not sent to us, to Google Analytics 4 or to any other server. PencilPage never writes them into the part of a page address that browsers send to servers, into a page title or into the name of a downloaded file: Download PDF builds the file in your browser and names it after the generator and the sheet number, never after a name or word you typed.
Your last settings on each generator (including the last names or words you typed), lists you save and your theme choice are kept in this browser's local storage, and the site's files are cached for offline use. On a shared computer, press Forget on this device under the list box, or clear this site's data, to remove them.
Links you share
Copy link puts your settings, including any names or words, after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part to servers and Google Analytics 4 does not record it, but anyone you give the link to can read it, and it can stay in your browser history. Share settings makes a link without your list, which is the safer choice for class lists; after a link is opened, PencilPage removes it from the address bar.
Analytics and cookies
Page views are counted with Google Analytics 4. It records the page, the referring link, your browser and device type, an approximate location from your IP address and a device identifier; we read it as totals per page and never look up an individual.
It records the address of a page without the part after the # sign, so the names and words in a copied link do not reach it. Along with page views it counts a few events, such as scrolling to the end of a page or the first change to a generator’s settings; these carry the page address and the name of the setting, never what you type.
Advertising storage, advertising user data and advertising personalization are refused on every page and in every country, so nothing measured here feeds advertising profiling. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland the analytics storage is refused as well, by default and without asking: those visits still reach Google as page views, but the counter writes nothing to your device and keeps no identifier from one page to the next.
Outside those countries Google Analytics 4 sets its own cookies under Google’s privacy policy, named _ga and _ga_ followed by the property identifier; they tell one browser from another, so a second page in the same visit is not counted as a second visitor. Inside those countries it sets none. No advertising cookie is set on any page. The site itself adds none of its own; what it keeps in your browser’s local storage (your last settings, saved lists and the theme) stays on this device. The pages and generators work the same if you block the counter with a content blocker or Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

What your browser loads
Your browser fetches one outside service on the pages of this site, and this is the whole list:
Google Analytics 4 — counts page views so we can see which generators and guides are used. Your browser fetches it from www.googletagmanager.com and sends the page views to Google’s collection servers under google-analytics.com and analytics.google.com, and outside the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland it sets its own cookies under its own policy.
Everything else — the generators, the school handwriting fonts, images and styles — is served from this domain, and the PDF is built in your browser. What you type is not sent to Google Analytics 4 or to any other outside server.
Hosting
Our host (Cloudflare) keeps standard server logs such as IP address and requested page for security.
Your rights
We hold no account or profile data about you; the page-view records described above are kept for us by Google Analytics 4. You can ask what we hold, ask for deletion or object by email, and, in the EU or UK, complain to your data-protection authority. We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising.
